Urban Etiquette Tip: B*tch … Pleeze!
Have you ever been in a situation where you were minding your own business and someone comes along and annoys you or insults you by saying something stupid?
It recently happened to me! My first gut response was to say “B*tch, Pleeze” but I knew that would be wrong - so I implied it!
So for those of you who don’t want to say it but would like to imply it, here are a few options:
“good thing everyone is entitled to an opinion” implied ending, “kiss it!”
“if I were you, I’d probably think the same thing” implied ending, “but you’re stupid and I’m not so we can’t think the same thing”
“thank you for sharing” implied ending of B*tch Pleeze!
If these responses are not acceptable responses to unconstructive criticism in your environment, here are a few “politically correct” ones you can try:
“thank you, I didn’t know you felt that way!”
“I respect that everyone sees things a different way, would you like to talk about this?”
“sorry you feel that way!”
However you respond to a stupid question or unconstructive criticism, keep in mind that you are probably speaking with a dummy. In which case, there is no good response because they simply won’t get it.
IMAGE TIP: In an office environment (or with your neighbors), you might want to consider taking the really, really high road and try to keep the peace by apologizing. It may be worth it, specially if you don’t mean it. No harm no foul.
Any other creative responses to unwarranted criticism?
