Man Tip: How to wear jeans to work
Jeans aren’t just for weekends. Many professional men wear jeans to work everyday. However, there is a hidden hierarchy for which type of jeans are best to wear to work and which to leave at home. So before you dig out your favorite weekend jeans, read this and decide if your jeans are best left in the closet.

The style of your jeans are one of the biggest tale tell signs of whether your jeans are appropriate for work. Strategically ripped, torn, and excessively faded jeans are best kept outside of the office. A stylish pocket doesn’t hurt but when it comes to being overly embellished or heaven forbid, a carpenter pocket, you might want to consider where you work. If you’re not in a creative industry or construction, save these styles for your day off.
Color is another tale tell sign. The shade of blue is key. Imagine a color spectrum of light to dark, light blue is more casual and dark blue is more formal (there is such a thing as a formal pair of jeans). Think company outing at a White Sox game for light blue and dark blue for in office business casual days.
Finally, since most companies won’t let you just show up in jeans with no shirt or shoes, what you pair with your jeans is as important as the jeans themselves. For example, a free t-shirt that you won for having downed the most beers is probably not acceptable. However, a tailored well fitted shirt, with or without a blazer is perfect. As for shoes, no grown man outside of a gym should be walking around in gym shoes, aim for a walking shoe instead.
Whether you work in a casual environment or a traditional one, the style, color and the way your jeans can help you stay on inside of your companies dress code and look good doing it.
Now might be a good time to mention, my number one recommendation for men’s jeans is Jack of Spades Men’s Jeans and they are available on my website.
