MLB Fashion Police pull a Hoodie

Dear Maddon, stop the whining, the MLB fashion police are well within their right to pull your hoodie!

First, it’s not about you.  Its about the MLB, the integrity and image of the sport and a host of other factors totally unrelated to your “favorite hoodie.”

Second, every major sport has rules about what can be worn on the field. The smart ones even have guidelines for what to wear off the field, think NBA Dress Code back in 2005!

As comfortable as Maddon’s hoodie may be, the fact is that a lot of places have banned hoodies entirely. Some as a matter of image, some as a matter of safety, even public schools have banned hoodies.  Not to mention, think about the fans in the stadium, think about the cameras… would you want a camera panning across a stadium of fans that look like a scene from a hip hop video?  As for fans, I’d much rather sit next to someone who I can see versus someone covering their head with a hoodie!

Maddon, this time you need to take on for the team (in this case, the whole MLB)  stop your whining and take off the hoodie.  If the MLB doesn’t enforce its policy somewhere, what’s to stop you from showing up in your favorite pajamas?

With millions of spectators, the MLB was well within it right to preserve the image of the MLB by not supporting, condoning or allowing Maddon’s hoodie. That is, at least until the come out with a MLB sanctioned hoodie.
