Q & A: Ripped Pants

Q: I ripped the pants to my favorite suit in the front, underneath the pocket. Can they be fixed?

A:  Just about anything can be fixed but unless you ripped or tore your pants on a seam, it’s probably not worth it.

A rip on a seam  is an easy fix but anything off the seam would most likely require weaving and that can be costly if you don’t want to see a tell tale sign.

Next time you purchase a suit, immediately ask your sales person if they can order a second pair of trousers because trousers are usually the first to go.  Another thought is to consider custom.

Whenever, I make a custom suit for a client, I always make two pairs or trousers.  Not only will he be able to wear the trousers more often, it extends the life of the suit.

A suit jacket without a pair of trousers is pointless. A second pair of trousers is a worthwhile investment.
